If you work in Vero Beach's restaurants, hotels, retail shops, or the broader service economy, you know that living close to work makes everything easier. North Crane Living manages properties in and near the beach corridor — the same neighborhoods where most hospitality jobs are. Short commutes, bike-friendly locations, and rents that work on a service industry income.

About Hospitality & Service Industry

Vero Beach's beach corridor — Ocean Drive, Cardinal Drive, Beachland Boulevard — is the heart of the local hospitality economy. Restaurants, hotels, retail shops, and tourism businesses employ a significant portion of the area's workforce. Notable employers include beachside restaurants, the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa, Costa d'Este Beach Resort, the Kimpton, and numerous independent shops and eateries along Ocean Drive.

Commute & proximity

Ocean Drive, Beachland Blvd, and the beach corridor

Our properties near the beach corridor put you within biking distance of most hospitality jobs on Ocean Drive and Beachland Boulevard. For workers at beachside hotels and restaurants, the commute can be as short as a five-minute bike ride. Even our mainland properties are a quick 10-minute drive across the bridge to the barrier island. No highway commute, no traffic stress.

The neighborhood around Hospitality

The beach corridor is where Vero Beach comes alive. Ocean Drive has restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. The farmers market runs Saturday mornings at the Riverside Theatre area. The beach is steps away. For workers in this area, living nearby means you can walk to work, enjoy the beach on your off days, and actually be part of the community you serve.

“I bartend on Ocean Drive. Being able to bike to work and back — no parking hassle, no gas money — honestly saves me hundreds a month. And the apartment is walking distance to the beach. Hard to beat.”

— Hospitality worker, North Crane resident since 2023

Hospitality FAQ

Hospitality housing
questions answered

Are there affordable rentals near Vero Beach's beach corridor?

One-bedroom apartments near the beach corridor start around $1,400–$1,600/mo with North Crane Living. For workers looking to save, two- and three-bedroom units split between roommates bring the per-person cost down significantly. We manage several properties within biking distance of Ocean Drive.

Can I bike to work from North Crane Living properties?

Yes, several of our properties are within biking distance of the Ocean Drive and Beachland Boulevard restaurant and hotel corridor. The area is relatively flat with bike-friendly roads. Many of our hospitality industry residents commute by bicycle year-round.

Does North Crane Living accept applicants with tips-based income?

We evaluate all income sources during the application process. For service industry workers with tips-based income, we typically ask for recent bank statements and/or tax returns in addition to pay stubs. We understand that hospitality income can look different on paper — contact us to discuss your situation.

Are there roommate-friendly rentals for service industry workers?

Our two- and three-bedroom apartments and houses work well for roommate arrangements. Splitting a $2,200 three-bedroom house three ways, for example, makes it very affordable. Each person on the lease goes through our standard application process.

What's the typical commute from mainland Vero Beach to the beach corridor?

From our mainland properties, the drive to Ocean Drive and the beach corridor is about 10 minutes via the Merrill P. Barber Bridge or the 17th Street Bridge. Traffic is rarely an issue in Vero Beach, even during peak tourist season. Many residents prefer the mainland for lower rents while still being minutes from work on the island.
